About Me

Hey! I’m Austin.

I earned my first bachelor’s degree from Rocky Mountain College in 2022, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. I then worked in an analytical chemistry lab for over a year, but during that entire time as well as the last year of my degree, all I wanted to do was code and make video games.

Finally, in 2021 I decided to take a leap and go back to school through Oregon State University’s ECampus, my sights set on a B.S. in Computer Science and as many side projects as humanly possible. I graduate in June of 2023 and can’t wait to solve problems and collaborate with the right people!

I Love Game Programming

  • On a base level, I’m a lifelong gamer, starting on the original GameBoy and my dad’s old NES before I could even read! I’ve had so many impactful experiences with games over the course of my life, and I’ve always dreamed of being able to provide that for others.
  • I enjoy all types of games. From metroidvanias and rogue-likes, to RPG’s, to narrative-driven single player games and deck-builders, to competitive shooters (Master’s tank in Overwatch) and text adventures, my game interests are endless! Playing and enjoying so many different games has given me instinctive gameplay sensibilities for what is fun and what isn’t, a trait that makes me a natural game designer and programmer.
  • I am an extremely curious person, constantly hungry to learn new things and craving a challenge. Just within the realm of gameplay programming, you have player controllers, combat, traversal, NPC and enemy behavior/AI, a menagerie of systems such as pick ups, loot, inventory, and so much more! The idea of facing such a variety of challenges and pursuing mastery in all these topics excites me to no end.
